» Heaven Smile
These are the typical Heaven Smiles and are pretty easy to kill. At the start of the game they take about 5 bullets to defeat (normal mode). They detonate upon contact causing quite a bit of damage, so kill them before they get too close. They are able to be countered, so if a personality has the counter-attack ability, it will instantly kill the enemy.
» Running Smile
Just like Heaven Smiles, except that they run towards you.
» Spiral Smile
Spiral Smiles only have one weak point, which stands out like a sore thumb - it's face. They move quite slow, so you should have enough time to aim and time your shots right so that you actually hit their faces. It's easy to miss if your timing isn't right. They deal quite a lot of damage when they explode upon contact. Spiral Smiles first appear in the first part of the Sunset scenario.
» Another Smile
These HS (Heaven Smiles) can be found on the ceiling or crawling on the ground. When on the ground and right in front of you, you can use down attack to take them out, if the persona you're using at the time has that ability. If not down attack, use counter attack to counter when they jump up at you. Otherwise, take them out before they get too close. They're quite fast, too.
» Bombhead Smile
Bombhead Smiles are first introduced in Sunset. They make a strange 'laughing' noise constantly and move reasonably slow. They have a huge bulb/bomb on their head, and if you shoot their head you can critical kill them (IIRC). Otherwise, just kill them like any other HS. They cause quite a bit of damage, though, so take them out before they get too close.
» Diver Smile
As their name suggests, Diver Smiles...dive down to ground from above. You can tell when they're gonna drop down when they make a noise - kinda like 'woohoo!', or a short laugh. They take about 7 shots to defeat, depending on what level your persona is at. Overall, not extremely difficult to beat. Can be a handful when they attack in 2's or 3's, though.
» Poison Smile
These first appear in part II of the Sunset scenario. One of the most annoying of Heaven Smiles, Poison Smiles can only be taken out one way which is to shoot their critical spots. If you just shoot at them, yes you'll eventually shoot them down - but don't be fooled just because they sound and look like they've been defeated. Within seconds you'll hear it laugh and rise back up again. On top of that, sometimes their critical spots aren't even shown, which makes things harder. If that's the case, you could shoot at the possible spots where they would normally be, but what I found effective was to just let them get close enough to be able to counter them. So, if you have the counter-attack ability by the time you encounter them, then you can defeat Poison Smiles instantly this way.
» Phantom Smile
Pretty straight forward, just aim for the enlarged body part and kill it with one shot. As a sub-boss in Sunset, you'll die if you fail - as is the same with all sub-boss Heaven Smile encounters. For the sub-boss encounter, Kaede would be your safest option, otherwise use any of the others but Mask to kill it. (I've not tried with Mask, but I think his explosive shots would cause the Phantom Smile to warp then detonate)
» Giant Smile
A Heaven Smile that appears only in the Cloudman scenario. You can tell when a Giant Smile is nearby from their low laugh. Like all Heaven Smiles, they're transparent, so be careful not to accidentally run into one. When Giant Smiles approach closer, they'll laugh and fall over. Their weak spot is their eye, so if you want you could opt for that method, or, if you want to take the safer and faster option: run up to a Giant Smile close enough to trigger it to fall over, then run out of its reach (so that it doesn't fall on you). You won't get any blood if you choose the latter method, but in Killer8 if you're surrounded by 2 Giant Smiles and running Ulmeyda Smiles, it's the best option to take, in my opinion.
» Ulmeyda Smile
Another HS that only appears in the Cloudman scenario. These Smiles are easy to take out as their weak spots are the yellow Ulmeyda-style t-shirts that they run around in. They don't run at you unless you shoot at them. Even though they don't target you, they run in straight lines in a set direction constantly, so if you're not careful you could accidentally bump into one of them, and you know what would happen then. So just take them out with one shot by shooting at their yellow t-shirts. (Taking 'em out with critical kills is fun, 'cause you get the chance to listen to everyone's catchphrase this way lol)
» Backside Smile
You will first encounter this enemy as a sub-boss in the second part of Sunset. They have a distinct, low pitched laugh, and they hover towards you at a moderate pace. What you have to do is shoot at its arms to get it to turn its back to you. The only way you can kill it is to shoot at the yellow core on its back. Con or Kevin seem to be the best at taking these out, or, a slightly leveled up Mask (about Lv3) can obliterate them in about 2 shots with his grenade guns.
» Protector Smile
A heavily armored Heaven Smile, use Mask's grenade shots to obliterate them. First introduced in the first part of the Encounter scenario.
» Protector Z Smile
These Smiles are covered in an indestructible armour, so it's pretty much impossible for any personality BUT Mask de Smith, to take 'em out. Use Mask's level 2 charge shot to deal to them. You will encounter these in the first half of the Encounter scenario.
» Protector ZZ Smile
Like the other Protector Smiles, these things are covered in even more durable armor and can only be defeated with Mask's level 3 charge shot. I found that they have to be pretty close for the charge shot to deal any damage to them. These are first encountered in the second part of the Encounter scenario.
» Broken Smile
These HS are airborne and fly from side to side in a swooping fashion, making it tricky to lock onto them. I find Con the most effective to take these out as his firing rate is fast enough to keep up with them. It's also possible to use Dan, Kevin or Coyote, but since these things move around a lot, it could get tricky trying to take them out before they get too close. If a persona has the enemy slow ability, this comes in handy if it takes effect in time.
» Laser Smile
This enemy is first introduced as a sub-boss in the second part of Encounter. It doesn't move as it's strapped to some sort of board. You have a limited amount of time to take this bugger out before he charges his laser and fires at you. Seriously. >_>
The only way to take this enemy out is to aim for its head - which is its only weak spot. Shoot at any other part of its body or take too long to kill it, and it will fire its beam, inflicting quite a bit of damage. The best way to go is to use a persona who has the head lock-on ability.
» Roller Smile
These are in the Alter Ego scenario. Roller smiles have a distinct laugh, so you know when it's them. They roll at you along the ground, so take them out before they get to you. You could also take them out with down attack or counter-attack, if your selected persona has those abilities.
» Mother Smile
Mother Smiles are similar to Duplicator Smiles in the way that they both constantly lay eggs that will hatch into Heaven Smiles. Mother Smiles have a yellow core (normal mode), so any of the Killer7 can deal to them. They don't move, they just stand there laying eggs. It will only move if you agitate it. So first, kill its hatched egg(s) before shooting at its core. If you hit its core by accident while shooting at a hatched Heaven Smile, you'll find yourself taking on both the Heaven Smile from the egg as well as the Mother Smile. Keep shooting at its core to take it out.
Note that in Killer8, all cores on the Mother and Duplicator Smiles are red and can only be taken out with Dan's Collateral Shot. Mother Smiles first appear in the second part of the Sunset scenario.
» Duplicator Smile
Duplicator Smiles will constantly lay eggs, and if you're not fast enough at killing one hatched Heaven Smile, you could find yourself facing two. Basically shoot at the Duplicator Smile's core, which will be either yellow (it's mostly yellow in normal mode), or red. If the core's yellow, you can use any persona to destroy it. If it's red, then I suggest Dan's Collateral Shot to destroy it, as normal attacks won't work. Do away with the hatched Heaven Smiles, then before the Duplicator Smile lays another, destroy its core. In later parts of the game, you'll face Duplicator Smiles that have more than 1 core, and another that has both red and yellow cores, so be alert and make sure you spot their cores first. These first appear in the Angel scenario.
» Egg Smile
These are eggs that both Duplicator and Mother smiles lay. They appear as an egg and roll towards the persona. Shoot them to get them to hatch into a normal HS, then scan and shoot them. If you don't shoot the rolling eggs to hatch them, they'll eventually hatch themselves, but you want to get them out of the way before there're too many eggs rolling towards you at once.
» Flower Smile
These are the various coloured (mainly yellow) HS and they hold a decent amount of thick blood. Take them out just like any other HS.
» Camellia Smile
Unlike the other Heaven Smiles, Camellia Smiles don't run at you - they run away from you. They hold heaps of valuable thick blood, so be quick to take them out. If you take too long to kill them when they run away, they'll explode - meaning you get no thick blood. Use Dan, Con, Coyote or Kevin to take care of them, as these 4 have quick firing rates. (Coyote's waver could be a problem, especially at Level 0, so he might not be quick enough to use to take out the Camellia Smiles in the Angel scenario).
» Micro Smile
Micro Smiles first appear in the Angel scenario and are tiny airborne Heaven Smiles who upon contact cause a blinding flash. Try to spot and shoot them before they spot you - if they get too close they'll do their light flash attack. You can take them out with any of the Killer7. The red and blue Micro Smiles carry a lot of thick blood.
» Mithril Smile
A normal HS covered in armor - either shoot its weak spot which is often on it's arm, or shoot it 'til its armor breaks then kill it like a normal HS. I just use Dan and his powerful revolver to take care of these guys. Although, I'd say Mask's grenades are the most effective way to defeat them. Mithril Smiles are first introduced as a sub-boss in the first part of the Encounter scenario.
» Speed Smile
The Speed Smile only appears once in the game, as a sub-boss. You can kill this with just as much ease as the other Heaven Smiles. This one just moves faster and in an awkward manner. I prefer to use Dan for this, though you could use Kaede to be safe and snipe it from afar, but Dan, Coyote or Con would be effective to use as well.
» Ceramic Smile
You'll only ever face one Ceramic Smile in the game, which is at the amusement park. This is the last enemy you have to do away with before getting Dan's Demon Gun. Anyhow, its weak spot is its heart, as marked with a heart icon :p Use Kaede to snipe it, or, if that doesn't prove to be effective enough, opt for either a faster persona or try Dan, since his waver is pretty steady - if you've leveled him up enough by this point in the game, mind you. You defeat it once you shoot at its heart. On a random note, I thought this Heaven Smile was kinda funny, with it's whole 'playing peekaboo' thing goin on and getting scared as soon as it spots you. XD
» Timer Smile
Easily the most annoyingly frustrating Heaven Smile out of the whole lot. The Timer Smile is covered in different sized red spots all over its body, and in order to beat it, you must shoot every single spot, before it gets to you. One important thing to take note of - when there is one spot remaining, it will suddenly start charging at you quickly. What I do is I leave the reasonably large red spot on its chest 'til last, so when it charges, I can still aim at it (it's still tricky, but it's better than aiming for a smaller dot while it's running). If not the chest, there's another large-ish spot on its head. Naturally, the best persona to take care of the Timer Smile is Kaede with her scope.
» Great Tomahawk Smile
Easy to kill in one shot if you use Dan's Collateral Shot. The poor thing didn't last long enough for me to see what it does, so I'm not sure what other attacks it does. But er, as long as you take him out even with Dan's Collateral Shot, that's the only thing that matters (especially in Killer8).
