[Official description]

--The Tyrant of the Killer7--

He was under Curtis Blackburn's tutelage in the Seattle Self-defence Force. He has the nickname "Hellion", and is the most aggressive persona of all the Killer7. He can fire powerful and destructive 'Demon Shells'.

[My description and initial thoughts - May contain spoilers]

Dan is just a badass in every sense of the word. He seems to be quite an important character too - as an individual, not as a part of the Smith Syndicate. Other than Harman and Garcian, Dan is the only other 'Smith' to be introduced to the player (I might have to check this). Also, certain parts of the game seem to involve him more than the others. For instance he plays the main part in the Angel, Alter-Ego and Encounter scenarios, in particular. Curtis Blackburn was Dan's mentor and also the man who shot and killed him in a previous life. Curtis is as Dan says, a sick old man - as he keeps corpses of headless, naked women as displays on his wall, not to mention he's deeply involved with the trafficking of organs, which are taken from orphans. He also has only the female orphans live with him. Anyway, I was glad Dan got back at Curtis at the end of Encounter.

He appears to be cool and sometimes quite composed, though once he's pissed off, that's another story - Dan has quite an aggressive personality and doesn't take shit from anyone. He's somewhat cocky sometimes, too - this is a part of his cool, badass nature I guess lol. He can cause a lot of carnage with his gun and can back himself up with his skills. He uses a revolver which upgrades to a double barrel revolver called the 'Demon Gun', that he gets later on in the game. The firing speed of his first magnum is kinda slow (especially at Lv 0), as is his reload speed. However later on once he's leveled up, he becomes faster, and with his Demon Gun, even deadlier! The Demon Gun fires 12 rounds and has an insanely fast reload speed, not to mention a fast firing rate. Level 5 Dan + Demon gun = total pwnage!

Compared to the other personalities, I'd say Dan has the most abilities that you can get by leveling him up. He starts off with Charge Shot (at Lv.0), which means he can use a vial of thin blood to charge up his shots from 1 to 3 levels. To charge for his 'Collateral Shot' (which is a level 3 charge shot), 3 vials of thin blood are consumed in order to use it. His collateral shot deals major damage, and is really effective when taking out Duplicator Smiles as well as Mother Smiles. Although his Collateral shot is powerful, it can't kill all smiles - Z protector smiles, for instance can only be defeated by Mask de Smith.

Dan also has a counter attack, where he grabs a Heaven Smile then fires into it while saying "you bastard!", killing it instantly. He'll eventually get double and triple tap, which just means multiple bullets are fired at once from a single round which comes in handy, too. Then there's down attack, where Dan can stomp on a downed or crawling-type Heaven Smile that's in front of him. Head-lock is another important skill that he learns at Level 3, where he automatically locks on to a Heaven Smile's head after pressing L1 to scan. This particularly comes in handy when fighting the Laser Smiles, whose critical spot is their head. The most useful and best skill out of them all, would have to be Critical Lock-on, which as you might've guessed, automatically locks on to a Heaven Smile's critical spot, meaning there'll be a lot of pwnage and "this is too easy" goin' on :p This ability is unlocked at Level 5, which takes a whole damn lot of thick blood to buy. It's worth it in the end, though!

Dan's a very useful persona, an all rounder who can pretty much take out any enemy and boss, except for a few enemies and bosses that require skills by one of the others in order to defeat them. I focused on upgrading him mainly, and got him to Level 5 by the end of the first part of the Encounter scenario/stage. His collateral shot is the only attack that can successfully kill the red coloured cores on the Duplicator Smiles. This attack is especially needed in Killer8, due to all Duplicator and Mother Smiles having red cores. I think his character is quite interesting, and this is mainly why he's my personal favourite out of the 7 (not because he's popular among fans). In my opinion, it would've been cool to see more of his past/story. Hmm if not by means of a sequel to the game, then a Killer7 anime, perhaps? :D Ah well...I'm not complaining though, as he did get quite a lot of screen time, after all.
